"In a Word" was the title of the message Clark gave at church today. The message asked if you could describe God in one word, what would it be. A single yellow post-it note was inside the worship guide. Clarks instructions... to put this post-it note somewhere where you will see it everyday, reminding yourself that while you go through the NT40 challenge that you are seeking to know God; to write down the one word that describes God to you on the post-it note at the end of the challenge.
Now I don't think I'll be able to come up with one word that ultimately describes God, but I do think that by the end of this challenge I will have come much more closer to Him. That He will have helped me with so many situations, problems and life challenges over the next 40 days that I should be able to come up with one word that describes Him over that time period. What that word will be? I have no idea. But I am confident that He will be speaking to me, to us, through His written word over the next 2 months.
I have decided to wake up at 5:30am every morning to do my reading and journaling. I already have the coffee pot ready to brew and I'm heading to bed now so that I will be well rested and ready. I have found that, although it's early, when I wake up to do something related to my relationship with God, I am able to get up easily and in good spirits. At least, I've found that to be the case when waking up early for Men's Fraternity last year, or to listen to the Daily Audio Bible. Between preparation and prayer, I believe I'll be able to do the same for the NT40 challenge.
The challenge starts tomorrow.
